On Wednesday 5th February 2020, the Joint Foreign Chambers of Commerce of Thailand launched the CAP (Care About Plastics) initiative at the residence of H.E the Ambassador of The Netherlands. As an industry leader, Indorama Ventures supported a plastics compacter towards this initiative and also participated in the launching event with an exhibition space on plastic recycling and products made from rPET.

Starting with the hotel industry, the CAP initiative aims to redirect the impact of plastic waste to create a cleaner environment and provide support for charity. Hotel staff will be trained on the importance of recycling and how to separate their hotel’s plastic waste, which will then be bought, collected and recycled appropriately. Profits from recycling will benefit the homeless Thai Children of Baan Nokkamin Foundation and a small amount of the funds will also be donated to the hotel staff for their separation efforts. Now with 11 participating hotels including Marriott, Kempinski, Centara and more, the Chamber aims to involve as many Bangkok hotels as possible and to make it a model which can be rolled out nationally in the future.
