Indorama Ventures proudly received the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) Best-In-Class award under the Thai Development category at the 2023 AMCHAM Corporate Social Impact Awards Ceremony on 21 November. This award is given for adhering to the principles of the Bio-Circular-Green Economic (BCG) Model. To be considered for this achievement, the company was selected from 40 companies and shortlisted to three finalists who underwent an in-depth interview with six industry experts, NGOs, United Nations representatives, and US embassy representatives.

The project that was submitted for the award, PET Bottles for a Better Tomorrow, was done in collaboration with Thai Wacoal, a Thai lingerie company, and aligns seamlessly with our Social Responsibility and Circular Economy goals, promoting post-consumer PET bottle collection, recycling, and recycled PET yarn production.

With this project, 2 million post-consumer PET bottles were received from five local communities around the Thai Wacoal facility in Bang Kor Leam District, Bangkok. PET bottles were converted into 6.5 tons of high-quality recycled polyester yarn, degrading without leaving microplastics, that was used for Thai Wacoal’s new product line, Eco-product. This program also generated extra income for 15 litter pickers and helped improve the quality of PET bottle bales for local junk shops.

In addition to this, Indorama Ventures also received AMCHAM’s Corporate Social Impact award at Silver Recognition level for the second year. This award represents group-wide CSR efforts and practices demonstrating a commitment to being a responsible business and providing shared economic and social value to the company and community.

This award reflects Indorama Ventures' commitment to employing responsible business practices by creating a positive social and environmental impact. By using corporate expertise to help solve social and environmental issues, we are creating shared value aligned with our purpose of reimagining chemistry together to create a better world.
