The RECO Young Designer Competition raises awareness on how PET and polyester waste can be used to create wonderful designs (which are made using at least 60% recycled PET and polyester). The competition also allows the designers to showcase their skills, and it comes as a surprise to many that these products were once waste. This further demonstrates how to create something innovative for a better society and environment. With 200 entries annually from around Thailand, IVL selects the top 30 competitors who attend an exclusive eco-design workshop led by professionals in the design industry, and are supported by a successful brand manager who gives practical business advice to the candidates. The final 10 are selected to work more closely with project mentors who advise the finalists throughout the project to maximize their design potential and teach production techniques. IVL provides 20,000 baht to each of the 10 finalist teams to cover their materials and management costs. The RECO competition is in-line with our support for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and to promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.
